At Willand Preschool we focus on creating a play based learning environment, in particular one that is child initiated. We believe that children should be free to explore and develop their interests at their own pace and in their own way, thus enhancing their development. We provide rich learning experiences through a wide range of toys, resources and activities in both our indoor and outdoor spaces, covering all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Early Years Funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds
The government provides funding for 3 and 4 year old children and some 2 year olds to attend early years provision for up to 15 hours per week.
From September 2017, eligible 3 and 4 year olds will be entitled to up to 30 hours per week.
As of September 2015 we have made changes to how we record your child's progress with us. After careful research we decided to use educational software called 'Tapestry'. All Preschool children attending Willand Preschool have a personal on-line Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child's experiences during their time with us.
By logging onto secure servers with a secure username and password you will be able to view all of your children's observations, photographs and even videos. Each Tapestry account has its own database and the code itself is devleoped using hack-resistant techniques. The benefits to yourselves from Tapestry being on-line means you will have secure access to your child's Learning Journey and, in addition to viewing our contributions, we encourage you to add to it by uploading photos and comments, or commenting on observations made by us.
We have started a 'WOW Board' in the downstairs lobby and encourage you all to contribute to this on anything that your child achieves. We are committed to improving relationships with yourselves and are looking at ways to share information on your child's interests and achievements. There are slips available in the downstairs lobby.
Please click on Latest News for booking forms for Out of Hours and also the Holiday Clubs.
If you would like your child to receive a school dinner that is supplied by Willand Primary School, please click for a copy of the menu. The current price for a school dinner is £2.30. Please write exactly what you would like your child to eat on the menu slips. These can also be found in the lobby of the pre school. We then ask if you could put the menu slip and payment into an envelope and put into the post box that is situated on the left hand side of the lobby as you enter the building.
We aim to provide your child with a caring, friendly, happy environment in which to play, learn and socialise. We have been established since 1965 and moved into the current building in 2007.
We offer after school care and breakfast club for children aged 2 to 11 years old. We also provide holiday clubs for all holidays excluding the Christmas break.
We are registered for preschool care from the ages of 2 for 38 weeks of the year. We work closely with the local primary school and have established strong links that enable us to prepare the children for starting school.
